After years of using natural remedies, I have learnt one important lesson and that is to get to know the side effects before using any natural remedy on a regular basis. Once I started consuming lemon water in empty stomach, I started getting slight stomach burn and a gnawing feeling in my stomach. 5 Side Effects Of Drinking Lemon Water With Honey In The Morning:
1. Lemon Water Might Cause Tooth Decay:
One of the major side
effects of consuming highly acidic foods like lemon is it can erode our
teeth enamel. When we consume lemon water on a daily basis, our teeth
comes into contact with the acidic lemon juice which erodes our tooth
enamel leading to teeth sensitivity. To prevent this from happening,
drink it through a straw. This will reduce the amount of time our teeth
is in contact with lemon water. You can also rinse your mouth after
drinking lemon water to protect the teeth further.
2. Lemon Water Worsens Canker Sores:
you are having canker sores, I would suggest not consuming lemon water
for a few days as it can cause intense irritation. Canker sore is an open and
painful mouth ulcer that is very common. They are white or yellow in
color surrounded by inflamed red tissue. Canker sores are usually found
inside the lips and cheeks and can make eating extremely painful. Foods
containing citric acid like lemon water can cause severe irritation if
you drink it while you have canker sores.

4. Lemon Water is A Diuretic:

It is because of this diuretic nature that lemon water is always
included in detox diets. When we drink lemon water on a regular basis we
should remember to increase the water intake. Though it is not worse
like caffeinated drinks, it is still a mild diuretic and you will experience
dehydration when you consume large amounts of lemon water a day. I would
suggest sticking to one glass per day.
5. Lemon Honey Water & Diabetic Patients:
Though honey is good for health compared to regular white sugar, it is still a sweetener and should be avoided by diabetic patients. Consuming lemon honey water in empty stomach is especially bad for diabetics as it spikes blood sugar levels drastically. If you want to consume lemon water take it without honey and I would suggest taking it in between meals as it reduces the impact of meals on blood sugar levels greatly.
