Kadukkai Powder / Haritaki Powder / Harde Whole Powder Health Benefits & Medicinal Uses: Home Remedy For Constipation
Kadukkai is an amazing herb that we should learn to use in our daily life. Kadukkai is called "Haritaki" in Hindi and "Harde whole" in English. Kadukkai is an oblong shaped, brownish colored fruit. It has been used in ayurvedic medicine for more than 4000 years. It is also one of herbs that is very extensively used in home remedies. Kadukkai powder is a natural laxative that is available to us. Many suffer from constipation and take medicines for it continuously. Having a traditional diet that is rich in fibers and using natural laxatives like kadukkai podi / powder will keep our bowels in good health. Regularly consuming medicine for constipation will make a person dependent on them and of course the side effects of bloating and flatulence, when the laxative medicines are taken regularly. Kadukkai stores well, as it is sold after drying the fruit well. Stock up on this natural laxative and use it when you suffer from constipation. To make the remedy, break the kadukkai and remove the seeds and sun dry the kadukkai peel very well in the sun. Powder it well to a very fine powder and bottle it. Take the required amount of powder in a bowl, boil water and add to the kadukkai powder. Drink it once it comes to luke warm temperature before going to bed. You will find yourself free from constipation, the next day morning. We do get kadukkai powder in the markets, but I prefer making it on my own, as it is very effective when freshly ground.
1. Take kadukkai in a plate and sun dry till crisp.
2. Break the kadukkai in a mortar and pestle and remove the seeds.
3. Powder the skin to a fine powder either in a mixer or in a mortar and pestle.
4. Boil water in a pan and take the required amount of powder in a tumbler and pour over it, strain and drink before bed time.
Don't boil the kadukkai powder, only pour the hot water on top of it.
Remove the seeds before powdering the skin.
Kadukkai powder is slightly bitter, so the decoction will be slightly bitter.
If you feel the amount given is bitter for your taste, reduce the amount of the powder.
