Garlic For Hair Growth: Benefits & 3 Tops Ways To Use It!

garlic for immunity

Garlic has been used to treat hair problems from ancient times. In our family, we use garlic when we have oil bath, it is a tradition that we have been following for many many years. My husband’s late grandmother was an authority in home remedies and she lived to the ripe old age of 97.

She used to be very particular about the way the oil for hair bath should be prepared. Even when she was in her nineties she used to personally monitor how the oil was prepared :). The oil was always made with a blend of unrefined sesame oil, garlic, peppercorns, dry ginger and cumin seeds. We still follow it religiously to this day, traditions like this should be treasured and passed on from one generation to the other else it will get lost very soon.

After having oil bath with this mixture you will rarely have scalp infections or itchiness or dandruff and you will also feel very relaxed and refreshed because of the massage. Though garlic has a strong unpleasant smell that many don’t like, it does wonders to scalp if applied regularly.

3. Garlic For Hair: General Use For Everyone

For general use, I would suggest adding garlic to the oil that we use for taking oil bath. I would suggest men have their oil bath on Saturdays and women on Fridays as per the tradition. Make the oil and while it is still warm, massage it well all over the scalp. Better still, ask someone in your family to massage it gently for you, wait for an hour and have your hair wash. You can find the recipe for making it here.

We use curry leaves as a daily application oil and it has a pleasant smell. Adding garlic to it will spoil the smell and you can use it only as a pre-shampoo treatment.
